Story
I'm taking part in the 2017 Melbourne Marathon Festival and hoping to raise funds for the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation.
In October this year I will be running my first ever Melbourne Half Marathon, running through the streets of Melbourne and ending at the G!
12 months ago I had never run further than 4kms, setting myself this goal has helped me to improve my fitness, set myself a challenge and do something I never thought my body or mind capable of!
I would love your support in my endeavors with the proceeds going to the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation. This foundation has three programs - Sons of the West (Daughters of the West to launch this year), Ready Settle Go, and The Whitten Project.
Sons of the West is a men's health program combining fitness, healthy eating, psychology sessions and football to enable men a better way of living and the chance to make a change in their life, and meet some new friends.
Ready, Settle, Go is a settlement service that links newly arrive immigrants and refugees with the services they need in Melbourne, as well as teaching them about life in Australia and providing sports and employment programs.
The Whitten Project is a youth leadership aimed at growing the West's youth leadership skills.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference
Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (SpiritWest Foundation)
The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) is the charitable arm of the Western Bulldogs Football Club, delivering targeted, evidence-based community programs across Victoria’s West. Our mission is to address systemic health and social inequalities by engaging vulnerable, diverse, and underrepresented communities through trusted, culturally safe initiatives.
Operating across three strategic pillars—Health & Wellbeing, Youth Leadership & Empowerment, and Equity & Inclusion—WBCF supports over 5,000 participants annually. Our programs are co-designed with community and stakeholder input to ensure they are responsive, accessible, and outcomes driven.
Our initiatives support a wide cross-section of the community, including newly arrived migrants, First Nations youth, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and individuals experiencing poor physical or mental health. Programs are delivered in multiple languages (e.g., Hindi, Vietnamese) and address key health challenges, including chronic disease prevention, mental wellbeing, and social isolation.
