In support of StreetSmart, the ASIC graduates and the ASIC 'classics' will be joining forces to participate in the 2017 Melbourne Marathon. 

 Why did we decide to do this? Over 105,000 Australians experience homelessness every night. Running, walking, skipping (and maybe crawling) our way through a 10km or 21.1km course is a simple task compared to the challenges these Australians endure every day. By participating in the marathon, ASIC for StreetSmart hopes to increase awareness of the physical and mental challenges homeless people face and raise $5000 for StreetSmart to assist in the battle to combat homelessness. 

 StreetSmart is a great Australian charity, supported by ASIC in the Community and chosen by the graduates to be their 2017 charity partner. StreetSmart provides much needed support and funds to grassroots community organisations and projects providing services to the homeless. 

 Projects and organisations they support include: 

• Free legal centres for those experiencing homelessness; 

• Women's shelters; 

• 'NEST' – A program supporting young parents and their children with accommodation and long term support; 

 • 'Orange Sky Laundry' – A free mobile laundry services for the homeless; 

• And many more! To date, Street Smart has funded 1,418 projects and supported 506 organisations.
