Story
Two school friends who are now in their mid 30's. A couple of twin Mum's setting themselves a challenge to mark the 5th birthday of some very special little girls.
21.1km. Over 2 hours of pain, sweat, and tears. Why would we do this? We want to raise as much money as we can for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Mercy Hospital for Women in Heidelberg, Victoria.
This is Claire's story:
In October 2012 our twins Mya and Hazel arrived very prematurely at 23 weeks gestation. Weighing 485g and 660g, our tiny little miracles were cared for 108 days in NICU and Special Care Nursery by very skilled and compassionate nurses and doctors. If it were not for these amazing people, state of the art equipment and their institution, we may not be celebrating this milestone with them. The NICU at The Mercy looks after 1500 premature babies each year, providing an amazing service for babies born prematurely and with complex medical needs.
Claire and Katie are running to raise as much money as they can for vital equipment to help other premature babies and their families in this special unit.
At nearly 35 years of age, we are ready to give this a red hot crack, bad knees, creaky hips and all. Your donations will assist thousands of families, just like Claire & Josh's. And we'll bloody love you for it!
