Story
I'm making a come back by taking part in the 2017 Melbourne Marathon Festival. In doing so, I'm on a mission to raise funds for The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation, a cause and a club very close to my heart.
I'm proud to be in a place I never thought possible after 4 years of illness & rehabilitation and am excited to be a part of this 3km walking event to support this great cause.
Your donation will go towards supporting youth leadership & development, diversity & social inclusion and health & well being of all partnered with The WBFC's Community Foundation. Check out the link: http://m.westernbulldogs.com.au/foundation/about-us
You don't have to be a Doggies Fan to get on board, just a fan of making a difference.
$15 can give a newly arrived migrant access to a health literacy session
$40 can provide one regional youth with transportation to and from a social leadership camp as part of the Western Bulldogs Leadership Project
$160 can provide a refugee with the opportunity to embark on a 3-day journey camp.
$200 can help to educate a man with chronic disease of the effects of physical exercise to his health and provide a walking community to facilitate a change in long-term behaviour
$1,000 can provide one disadvantaged young person with a place in the Western Bulldogs Leadership Project
$2,500 can provide funds to offer members of a culturally and linguistically diverse playgroup a 28-week social sport program, providing much needed support.
Activity
Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (SpiritWest Foundation)
The Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) is the charitable arm of the Western Bulldogs Football Club, delivering targeted, evidence-based community programs across Victoria’s West. Our mission is to address systemic health and social inequalities by engaging vulnerable, diverse, and underrepresented communities through trusted, culturally safe initiatives.
Operating across three strategic pillars—Health & Wellbeing, Youth Leadership & Empowerment, and Equity & Inclusion—WBCF supports over 5,000 participants annually. Our programs are co-designed with community and stakeholder input to ensure they are responsive, accessible, and outcomes driven.
Our initiatives support a wide cross-section of the community, including newly arrived migrants, First Nations youth, people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, and individuals experiencing poor physical or mental health. Programs are delivered in multiple languages (e.g., Hindi, Vietnamese) and address key health challenges, including chronic disease prevention, mental wellbeing, and social isolation.
