Story
Over the past 5 months I have been pounding the pavements and losing kilos (13!!!) in training for the Melbourne Half Marathon. I haven’t run a half since 2011 so this has been a big commitment for me and the big day is on Sunday 15 October.
I will be finishing my 21.1 km with a lap of the MCG.
A lot of the training was to improve my health and fitness but I wanted to use the opportunity to increase awareness of youth mental health issues and hopefully raise some money for Headspace, a very important charity that exists to help young people deal with these challenges. I am hoping that I can raise enough money to enable the foundation to make a real difference to some young people’s happiness, enjoyment of life and optimism for the future.
Thank you for your support and helping to make a difference
headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation
headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds, along with assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services.
Information and services for young people, their families and friends as well as health professionals can be accessed through this website, headspace centres, online counselling service eheadspace, the Digital Work and Study Service and postvention suicide support program headspace School Support.
All funds raised will go towards the national work of headspace, if you are looking to support your local headspace centre you will need to reach out to them directly.
